The village of Benitachell lies inland, in a valley that the Puig Llorença separates from the sea. This hill rises to 440 m about 1.5 km from the shore. The municipality has 2 km of coastline, all of it part of a Natura 2000 protected area of limestone cliffs that drop straight into the sea. Riuraus still stand in the countryside around the village: arched farm buildings where Moscatel grapes were once dried into raisins. Alicante airport is about 95 km away by road.
